California Colleges & Universities

One of the advantages of attending school in a large state is it's big higher education system. California's network of colleges and universities can prepare you for a wide range of careers in this state that has something for everyone.

California Colleges and Universities: A Golden Opportunity
Just as people were drawn to California during the Gold Rush, you may find yourself rushing to choose a school there, and with good reason. This West Coast state is full of higher education options. They include 110 two-year community colleges, seventy-five independent institutions, and all the schools in the California State University (twenty-three campuses) and University of California (nine main campuses) systems.

The Good Life at California Schools
The Golden State is a melting pot of peoples and their cultures, and showcases all types of regions--urban hubs, beach and bayside cities, desert locales, rural towns, mountain areas, and more.

Numerous, well-known attractions pepper the state, including Yosemite National Park, Hollywood, the Golden Gate Bridge, and theme parks (Disneyland, Sea World, Magic Mountain).

The state offers its residents a lot to do, such as year-round outdoor recreation; indoor activities like spa visiting, shopping, and dining; and exploring and adventure seeking. Opportunities like whale watching in the Pacific, skiing at Lake Tahoe, rafting the Kings River, mountain biking in Mammoth, relaxing in High Sierra hot springs, or discovering Catalina Island are endless.

California Colleges Pave the Way to Career Success
California's main industries include real estate, government, and retail. The highest paying professions in the state include:
 •   Information
 •   Financial Activities
 •   Manufacturing
 •   Professional and Business Services
 •   Federal Government

With respect to jobs, the counties with the best-paying ones are in Northern California, and include Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda, and Marin.

While you're not likely to find anymore actual gold in California, if you take advantage of what the state offers, you might feel like you had.
