Schools in Hawaii: An Island Education
Hawaii, the most recent state to join the Union, is made up of hundreds of islands, of which eight comprise the main populace and the centers of commerce. Each island has its own charms, and though each has a bustling economy, only a few house Hawaii universities.

O'ahu is the most populous and third largest island, home to the capital, Honolulu. It also is the location of most of the universities in Hawaii, including both Honolulu and Pearl City as major Hawaii college towns. O'ahu (particularly Honolulu) is the center of business for the state.

Maui is the second-largest island, and though it had been supported mainly by agriculture and tourism, it is now increasing in business presence as companies discover it as a business-friendly place. There are also some Hawaii colleges on the largest island, though not as many as on O'ahu.

Hawaii's Employment Outlook is Strong
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Hawaii unemployment has remained quite low compared to the rest of the nation. Its biggest industries are tourism and agriculture, both of which have careers available with room for promotion, especially with a degree. For anyone interested in something like hotel management, a degree from a university in Hawaii could launch a promising career. Attending one of the colleges in Hawaii, you might even learn Hawaiian--the second official language.
