Why Baltimore for Your Student Years?
Baltimore is the economic and cultural hub of Maryland. Many of the old industrial areas of Baltimore, including the dockland areas, have undergone significant urban renewal work and gentrification in recent years. The waterfront that enabled the growth of Baltimore as a seafaring and trading community is now a beautiful attraction for visitors and residents alike, drawn to the shops, restaurants and attractions such as the National Aquarium and Maryland Science Center. Baltimore has all the modern amenities you'd expect from a city. Getting around Baltimore is easy. The bus network is excellent, and there is also a small light rail network and a subway line. You should have no problem exploring the "city of neighborhoods", going out shopping, meeting friends at one of Baltimore's distinctive bars and restaurants, cheering on the Baltimore Orioles or Baltimore Ravens, or expanding your education at the many museums and galleries that reflect the cultural wealth and historical significance of Baltimore.
Will I Be Able to Find Work in Baltimore?
Baltimore's traditional manufacturing and shipping industries have been replaced by a modern service economy that offers a wealth of employment opportunities. The largest employers in Baltimore are the Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Hospital, but you should be able to find work in almost any field in a city that is ranked 20th largest in the United States, has a large tourism-based economy, and is the financial, business, and health service base for the southern Mid-Atlantic region.
