Improve Your Future With a High School Diploma or GED
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, a high school diploma or GED will earn you $7,658 more each year than you would earn without graduating from high school. Additionally, the highest number and quality of jobs projected for the future require some college education, for which you'll need a high school diploma or GED.
How Can I Earn My High School Diploma
It's easier now than ever before to earn your diploma. There are day, night, and weekend classes, full-time or hybridized online components, downloadable electronic textbooks, affordable plans, and school resources like day care, tutoring, and flexible scheduling.
A high school diploma can be earned in the following ways: 1)Traditional brick-and-mortar schools frequently offer night or weekend programs that enable returning adults to complete high school. Some feature online components, and many are accelerated. 2) Distance learning programs can often be completed in as little as six months (sometimes less). Just make sure that whatever school you attend is accredited.
A Look at the GED
A GED (General Education Development certification) is a high school equivalency exam that contains a battery of five tests in reading, writing, social studies, math, and science. Originally developed in 1942 as a way for WWII vets to earn their high school credentials, more than 17 million people in the U.S. have since earned the GED. It's accepted by about 98 percent of colleges and 96 percent of employers.
GED programs are widely available at public schools in your area and online. Customized instruction and coaching, as well as practice test opportunities and test-taking tips are often available in GED programs. Upon successful completion (at least 2,250 total points, or 410 points/section) of the test, you will earn your GED certification.
